Sword of the Elements Slots

Sword of the Elements Slots

Travel back to ancient China with a sword-wielding heroine in Sword of the Elements slots. Developed by RealTime Gaming (RTG), this 5-reel, 25-payline game has some interesting graphics and features. You can learn more about these aspects and if this slot is worth playing in the following Sword of the Elements review.

Gameplay

Sword of the Elements slots has 5 reels and 25 paylines going across a 5x4 grid. You need at least 3 of any matching symbol to win. Every winning combination must start in the leftmost reel, then travel right (eg reels 1, 2, 3 & 4).

Graphics & Setting

This game takes place on a circular platform that's possibly for duels between warriors—although we can't necessarily verify that. It also looks like there's some kind of brick structure behind the reels, although, again, this is something we can't tell. The symbol graphics look good, with plenty of detail in the warriors and items. We just wish that the atmosphere had a bit more going on.

Symbols & Win Potential

The regular symbols include five royals (A-10), a scroll, gold shield, warrior in purple armor, and warrior in red armor. The last symbol pays the most among this batch, offering 1,000x your line bet for five matches. Special symbols include an elemental pinwheel (bonus), dragon (free games), and female warrior (wild). As for win potential, you can expect the usual top payout in modern RTG games worth 50,000x your line wager.

Features

Swing your sword at the following features, including free spins, a bonus round, gamble option, and buy option:

  • Free games - You trigger 10 free spins when 3+ scatters land anywhere on the grid. You'll benefit from 1-3 stacked wilds appearing on random wheels during every spin.
  • Bonus round - You unlock the bonus by getting 3 elemental symbols anywhere on the reels. The grid becomes 5x4 (versus 5x3) during this round, and you get 3 bonus spins. Every position will either show empty, bonus, or +1 (extra free spin) after each round. A meter counts the bonus symbols, and you'll advance a level after every 5 bonus icons collected. The levels include 3x, 6x, 9x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 50x, 100x, 200x, and 500x.
  • Buy option - You can automatically trigger 10 free spins by paying 35x your total bet.
  • Gamble - After triggering free spins, you'll have an option to gamble for up to 50 free games. Gamble lets you choose how many of the original free spins to risk, with more free games on the line giving you an opportunity to win more extra spins.

Betting Options

We reviewed a version of Sword of the Elements with yuan for the currency. Its betting range started at 2.50 CNY ($0.35 USD) and went up to 125 CNY ($17.15 USD). You cannot change the number of paylines, so that limits the wagering options to some degree. This game does give you an option to change the spin speed (lightning bold) and immediately place max bets (coin stack button). Autoplay allows you to make the reels spin automatically for between 5 and infinity rounds.

Sword of the Elements RTP & Volatility

The three potential Sword of the Elements slots RTP settings include 91%, 95%, or 97.5%. Unfortunately, you won't be able to see which setting a given casino selects in the pay table. Volatility isn't listed either, although we guess that it's either medium or medium-to-high in this case.

Final Thoughts on Sword of the Elements Slots

This slot has impressive features, including a complex bonus round and gamble option. Sword of the Elements also provides a solid max win and fairly cheap feature buy (35x your bet) compared to the average game (100x). We do think the atmosphere could offer more to explain the backstory beyond a circular platform. Other than the weak setting, we like most other parts of this game. That said, we give Sword of the Elements an 8 out of 10 rating.
